NEW VIDEO: Evelyn Evelyn "Have You Seen My Sister Evelyn"

Evelyn Evelyn "Have You Seen My Sister Evelyn" Music Video from Amanda Palmer on Vimeo.

One of the coolest concept EP's we have come across in a long time, Evelyn Evelyn's Elephant, Elephant, is the brainchild of singer/song writer Jason Webley and Dresden Dolls singer Amanda Palmer.
Amazing storytelling and wonderful, melodic vibes keep you interested from beginning to end while the duo tells the story of conjoined circus twins adventuring through their bizarre life. Read the story below the following picture.

The video above is also one of the most intriguing and creepy animations we have ever seen... we immediately had to share this!

"EVELYN and EVELYN NEVILLE are a songwriting duo performing original compositions on piano, ukulele, guitar and accordion. The sisters are parapagus tripus dibrachius twins, sharing three legs, two arms, three lungs, two hearts and a single liver.

Born September 11, 1985 on a small farm on the Kansas-Colorado border, the Evelyns have traveled the greater part of North America performing with “Dillard & Fullerton’s Illusive Traveling Show”.
Their unique musical style is inspired by their many eclectic influences - from 80's music to showtunes, Joy Division to the Andrews Sisters.

The sisters currently reside in Walla Walla, Washington. They are fluent in chicken and their favorite colors are purple and yellow." - www.evelynevelyn.com

Grape Meets RVA Punk Band, T-Division

Article by: Kayce Johnson

The Don - Drums

"Meeting T-Division was an experience in itself. It was their enormous and crazy sense of humor, and how much they care about each other, that came through as they discussed making music and being in a band.
As four intelligent men, they’ll talk on a subject they love for hours.
T-Division is a Richmond punk band that’s been adding chaos to their genre for two strong years. They do so by outright denying restrictions implied through trying to fit a certain style or singing about subjects typical of punk music.

With music about friendship, love for their city, and life among other things, their music is relatable and at times thought-provoking. Given the positive energy they send out it’s no wonder Grape Cloth took an interest in them. The excitement they draw at house shows and more formal venues is felt before they even take mics in hand.

Matt - Bass

Matt, T-Division's bassist, explains their philosophy: “When we play music it’s for no other reason but to make us happy and to make other people happy.” Often they get people at their shows who don't listen to Punk and, following their listening experience, will make a point of letting the band know how much they enjoyed their music.
Judah - Lead Vocals

For Grape’s Hip-Hop-based followers who may be interested in checking out a new kind of music, I asked T-Division if they thought there is a correlation between Hip Hop and Punk music. Simultaneously they represented an underlying common attitude in one motion: they stick their middle fingers up. Lead vocalist Judah explains that Hip Hop and Punk had been pushed to the outskirts and, "when what you love so much was (considered) bad... that gives birth to defiance.”

Scott - Guitar, Vocals

“In a way we're all rebels and we're all a community,”guitarist Scott finishes. During our conversation, T-Division gave shout-outs to Black Liquid and Lord Slugg, both Grape Cloth counterparts.  Talking to all parties revealed evident mutual respect and admiration for each other’s work. As T-Division puts it, "having a good time and creating something you love is not genre specific."
Even if you don’t already listen to punk, you should definitely check T-Division out.
You can catch them at Night of the Living Dead Bands this Halloween weekend at Strange Matter. It's a FREE show where local musicians do covers of bands who are no longer together. You can spot them as Black Flag on Punk Night, Saturday October 29th. "

VIDEO: Noah-O - Voices

After his first major release titled "I Got It" (which has been hitting MTV Jams regularly), Noah-O of Charged Up Ent releases his second video directed by Monsee' and The Media Den. This dope song, telling about the struggles involved with free will, was produced by Rick of Black Sky Media and recorded in Charged Up Studios.

Charged Up Studios is a huge, high-quality establishment allowing Richmond, VA's music scene an opportunity to express themselves through creativity and sound. Located right on RVA's iconic Broad Street,
Grape was lucky enough to have a look around the other week and we urge you to contact HipHopVA, as soon as possible, to reserve your studio hours.

Invention

We found an insanely-interesting article in the New York Times concerning the amount of patents Mr. Steve Jobs was personally involved in. From desktops to iPods, packaging to operating systems and even power adapters, he did it all. 317 Apple patents later...

Chance Fischer & Kleph Dollaz - Passport To Nowhere Preview

Richmond-bred artists Chance Fischer and Kleph Dollaz have been gracious enough to allow Grape to help promote & sponsor their newest project, the "Passport to Nowhere" EP.
Living up the street from each other, this duo is churning out some of the dopest tracks Richmond will be able to claim. Excitement is an understand when describing this combination.

We have also been fortunate enough to get sneak previews of the newest additions to the EP, and we are sharing them with our friends and family so you can get as excited about this release as we are.

Below is the newest release, "Celebration", and we listened to it on constant repeat - while delivering local orders... by hand.
